Proudinsky is the deserving 5/2 betting chalk in this race, but I can't endorse after the Bobby Frankel charge hasn't won a race since March at the Fairgrounds.
Not only that, but Proudinsky doesn't have better speed or pace ratings than a lot of others in here.
My money will be on the second choice in the wagering, the 7/2 mornling line Becrux out of the John Sadler barn.
Becrux gets Mike Smith to ride, is coming up to the third race in his form cycle, and finished third, ahead of Proudinsky in his last.
There isn't a ton of speed in here, but Becrux cold be close to the pace if need be and I believe his odds will drift. I'm hoping for 5 to 1 on this guy.
Becrux to win the San Gabriel.
